My leopard gecko has been living with Calcium Sand as a substrate since I got him. I know many of you will want to tell me off but save it, I've heard before. He's been fine and fed well with no signs of impaction.
Anyway, the point of this thread is that I want to change substrate. I don't want to live in fear he will get impaction. The viv is heated with a heat mat so I need something that is suitable, and I would prefer not to use anything that's messy, such as coconut fibre's.
I'm thinking about using slate tiles, but will this conduct heat well? And does anyone know a good supplier that can cut-to-size? Any other advice will be appreciated.
In reference for the substrate supplier. I live in Southend, Essex.
