Hi there,

What size is your aquarium and volume please? Which type of Clowns have you got and are there plenty of hiding spaces for the new arrivals? How did you acclimitise the Damsels? With airline and bucket or just floating the bag? Light off etc..?

What are your water parameters?

If you advise me of these conditions we can get a better picture.

All Clowns are very territorial and the guys you have already think the aquarium is theirs, so they'll defend it to the death. Because they are in the same Damsel family they will struggle to get along together as both species are highly aggressive. Any new species you add to the tank may possibly get the same treatment, either from the Clowns or Damsels themselves.

A way to diffuse tensions is to rearrange the aquarium so that the Clowns no longer have a specific territory and both species are starting on the same 'level' if you will, to fight it out for residence.

What size are the Clowns? They sound like they might be a pair. Only advice I can really offer is rearranging the tank so that each party no longer has its original territory and has to seek out new ones.

It's also very important to check the water quality of a marine system ideally every 3-4 days as so much can change in an instant. At the very least I recommend doing a water test weekly. This will help you to keep on top of any issues and allow you to know when you need to do a water change. 10-15% weekly is perfect unless your water test stipulates that a larger one is required.

Not a worry. I hope it sorts itself out. Any other questions don't hesitate to pm me. I work for a very large aquatics retailer and keep many species of fish myself so if I don't know the answer I can certainly ask someone who does!
