Cool Everyone Please post your ideas/thoughts.

Hello all.
Please post what would make your ideal Herp show, take into account the good and the bad things that you have witnessed at previous shows.

What makes a good reptile show???

What would you like to see at a reptile show???

What Do you not want to see at a reptile show (other than the obvious sick animals)???

One of my pet hates is seeing animals such as Leopard geckos on fish tank gravel, purely for the fact that its more aesthetically pleasing.

I haven't been to many shows as of yet, but i have seen the gravel example and heard of it from others and i personally don't agree with it, i know its only temporary for the shows, but i still see that it carries risk.

Hmmmm Fish tank gravel??? I cant see a problem with it even for the short period of time that the animals are on it, Its certainly a better medium than coloured sand. Unless the ink/dye that is used is harmful, this i cant see as it can not be toxic as it used for fish that are very suseptable to any mild toxins.
But It is a point that I would like more evidence on. Have you any more info on using this substraight that back's up this claim that it carries any risks to herps. ( other than the odd hear-say).
If it does carry any risk then it is an issue that should be raised.
Any one else got any hates or likes about the shows?????
I really need as much input as possible people..

id like to see more FMAR t-shirts at the shows..lol

but i would also like cheaper entrance fees, maybe a " you buy you pay" idea, or half price for not buying live stock.
maybe this could be done by a stamp per purchase from the sellers.

id also like to see more shops attend, i knwo they cant do live stock, but what about FREE tables if they are to promote us, or another good cause, like a charity, or donate to a zoo etc etc...

id also like to see NO ONE walking around with any kind of lizard on there backs, ahnds etc, unless its tubed.
its a real cause for Anti ( whoever) rights people to moan about us, its not the ideal place for the reptile to be out, it could get hurt, andhence, so could our hobby.
i see it alot, people buy a gecko, get it out, play around with it, i think it should only be allowed out if the seller is to show the buyer the reptile, and to check it over.

Fees:

children FREE, adults £2.. think thats fair, most stay for 3-4 hours, you cant get "alton towers" for that price.

all purchases must be made by someone over 18.
i also think there should also be an "auction" at the show, maybe to promote a few shops, like bulbs, matts, small vivs, rubs etc etc, just to get people having a laugh, and bring a fun featureto the show, of course, no live reptile are to be auctioned.

just a few small things....lol

All good points there Tom, I like the Charity part maybe a percentage of the proceeds. Love the T'shirt idea I know some good Printers.
Sounds like a competition idea!!!
"best FMAR T'shirt design" winner gets the T'shirt printed.
Then FMAR can have them mass Printed so they can be sold to members.
Could do 1 compertition per year.
It would be nice for some well respected Breeder to do a short talk and maybe a display for the kids, like a petting area with furry things and a few Reptiles??
Crowd control lol, I've been to many shows but the thing that gets me most is everyone and thier Dog going in different directions, So you cant get any where lol.
SECURITY!! One show i went to last year had none what so ever. Alot of breeders lost many animals due to theft. Ok some Fault could be placed on them but the organisers did nothing to help prevent this.
