My Collection
It's been a long time since I was on here, so I thought I would introduce my wee (well, rather large) family. Need to get some new photos but I broke my camera :(
First of all the lizards!
I have a golden tegu named Inca. Shes coming up on 2 years old and surprisingly tame. Used to sleep under my pillow but her new fave spot is under the underwear drawer. I'm glad she is so predictable! Never been bitten by her- got bitten by her brother though who a friend owns. Very painful! He is currently looking for a new home :( Anyone in Scotland area wanting a golden tegu and I'll put you on to him!
Secondly I have my wee star, George my veiled chameleon. He's got a wonky crest. Not sure what happened to it :( Bought him that way. He "tounges" my OH's forehead but I've never had anything but a wee hiss and a puff. Everybody who visits loves him. Very strange looking animals lol.
Thirdly I have a plated lizard. Just about to ask for advice on this wee boy. I had two but they weren't a pair as I thought- both males and were fighting. I kept him as he had missing toes etc. Anyway, long story short he dropped his tail a few days ago. We were both at work so I have no idea how it happened :( Really upset about it. I feel so badly for ihm and there's so little info out there on plated lizardsto get help!
Now onto the snakes!
I have 7 kingsnakes. They are my favorite type of snake. The first snake I ever had in the house was a kingsnake, and the first one I ever got bitten by was also a kingsnake! He bit me ALOT! And ever since I have developed a soft spot for them. I would buy more but the OH says no. If anyone knows a reputable hypnotist please let me know! Anyway I have a male desert banded, female coastal stripe, male coastal dot-dash, unknown mix (black n yellow) aztec or abbarent thing.. looks like a moo-cow... and also a mexican black, florida and a brooks. Hoping to breed them in the future, and looking out for an albino prairie and a goins as well.
Onto the boas. I have a pair of halmahera boas. They're still quite young but the females over 2 foot now. Beautiful snakes and still quite unusual which is a shame, as theyve the nice viper heads and are small snakes. Got my biggest snake, a male dumerils around 5 foot at the moment. Planning to breed him with a massive beast in a local shop. Maybe I am exagurating but she looks about 10 foot and is wider than I am lol. Weighs a tonne! What else? Ah yes, my first snake ever (the king was my partners) was my brazilian rainbow boa. He's over 4 foot now and about 1 1/2 years old. Very friendly and tame. Escaped for a few months due a faulty glass viv but came back one day much bigger and fatter than before so hopefuly he has chased all the mice away! And the last two are a male common and an albino female. She is my darling- lovely pink and salmon colours coming through. Can't wait until shes bigger!
Also got some pythons. Got a very fussy albino burmese. Had her a good few months now but shes less than 2 foot I think. Had one shed since we gt her and will only assist feed. Hisses at all her meals but has slowly gotten better at swallowing them once theyre in her mouth. She ate 5 rat pups for the first time last week! I have never been so proud! We also have an irian jaya carpet, who also went missiung, form the same faulty viv which is how we discovered it was faulty. We gave up on him as he'd been away so long, until one day my neighbour said something suspicious and 2 dasy later we had him back. They had been keeping him in a fish tank and trying to feed him locusts -_- The guy is mentlly retarded so we just gave him a finders fee but I was SOOOOO angry. Meh. Anyway, lastly we have a (I think female) childrens python. Maybe going to breed her in the future. Looks lovely- very mother of pearl.
Also have a black rat snake, who is nice and tame most of the time. He just wraps around my hand and stays there all day long. Though if he gets on the keyboard he will bite me if I try to type too quickly. He just hates not getting all the attention I think lol. Also have a pine snake, which I bought for my OH's christmas. Very loud kiss and I think he looks like frankensteins monster- but nice snake. And we have a rescued garter snake. He was nearly dead when we got him, and his tail is missing. Don't know how come :( Just abused I think. He's very fun to watch eat. Open the mouth and wave it about till they hit something. And their love of goldfish is incredible!
Lastly, I have an emperor scorpion. Had one before named Brock, but he died of old age last year, so now this one is called Eddie. He's a laugh and a half wandering around his faun, trying to climb etc. Plus menchioning him to unwanted guests, or door to door salesmen, scares them allll away. Also have a chile rose, a big female. I had a male who died a few months ago. Would like a mexican red knee but wating till we have a spare heat mat. And I have my adorable albino pacman frog. He's about palm sized just now and I have only once ever seen him eat which is unusual. Never heard him croak either- but hes about 5 times the size he was 6 months ago so he is definately eating!
And thats the lot. Sorry to go on a bit but I would have hated to list them. They're family to me, not just pets ^^;;
