Green Anole Care sheet
Where are they from?:
Green anole's are from the south and east of the USA.
What do they look like?:
Green anoles, are well, green. Males have a red dewlap which they puff in and out to square up to other males to make them look larger, and for breeding. They are sometimes called the 'American Chameleon' becuase they can change their colours, they aren't actual chameleon but belong to the order Anolis. They can turn from lime green, to dark brown, depending on how stressed/cold they are.
How hot do they like their vivs?:
Anoles need a basking spot of about 88*f. And a cool area of around 82*f to thermoregulate. That needs to be on a dimmer stat. They can be at room temperture after dark.
Do they require UVB?:
Yes, as they are diurnal. a 5.0% UVB strip light works well.
What do Anoles eat?:
Green anoles are insectivorous, so they can eat locusts, crickets, mealworms and the occasional waxworm. They have been known to eat some citrus fruits, although as far as I know there hasn't been much research into this, so try with what yours like.
Do they like it humid?:
Yes, spray daily. They will drink droplets from leaves and viv sides!.
What do their vivarium's look like?:
They need it like a rainforest. Provide plenty of live plants and sticks to climb on. And a substrate of coir blocks from Reptile stores.
