Question Worried about my baby beardies ,, any advice welcome !

Hello all
I have 3 bearded dragons all around 8 to 10 weeks old , all from different bloodlines ,at first i put them all in an exo terra glass viv with light canopy holding 3 compact bulbs one 10 one 5 an a 2 also a 60w exo terra red heat bulb hanging inside the viv , all was well with the first 2 dragons going in at the same time ,then i added a smaller dragon about 2 weeks later , thats when the problems started i think as after that the stronger of the 2 dragons that came first stopped eating as did the new one ,both are very inactive and so i bought a new 4ft x 18 x 18 viv as i was told the exo terra glass vivs dont hold the heat needed with the mesh top . After setting the new viv up i put all 3 in their new home thinking the problem would be solved but a week later i am still having the same problem ,so i have now seperated them all and divided the 4ft viv into two 2ft living areas ,and made a solid top for the exo terra viv that i started with ,all vivs are holding good temps ,all with ample UVB and heat on stats , 1 of the first 2 is still eating very well and very active but the other 2 just wont eat and moving around very little ,at the moment i am keeping them going with liquidised foods through a small syringe with added vitamins and calcium , i am getting advice from many different sources but any help with this would be very much appreiciated ,as i really dont want to loose the little guys ,
they were bought as 2 females and 1 male but i keep checking them an have my doubts ,maybe i have 2 males which i know would cause a few problems ,,,,, what do you think guys ????????

Hi Jamie, glad you posted this and i'm sure you'll get even more help than I have given.

So people know, I have been helping jamie with this problem for a couple of days now. All dragons are now seperate and all have their own heat and U.V source.

I think for the time being mate it's gonna be a waiting game and will cost you a lot of time and patience.

After seeing all 3 dragons yesterday, I am pretty sure that with the measures you have taken, they will all pull through and be just fine.

Keep us posted mate.

Rob.

right..

personaly it could be a few things..

1: parasties/ Worms:

This can cause young dragons to stop feeding, and seem like they are ready to brumate, and shut down, slow down, and even sleep alot. when wqas the last time they had a pooh?..

dehydration: dragons cant see still water, and only get 99% of it through veg, if they dont eat it, they lose fluids FAST..
Offera bath, it might seem cruel, but do it, if you see them drink, you can put it down to that.

bullying: bigger dragons will, and under weight, and scared dragons "cower" and hide, i would suggest what you have already done, butbring the temps up, regular bathing, and also very fine chopped veg, and tiny tiny locusts, as young dragons relish these a million time over crickets.

Left over cricket: is there 1 in there?.. is it annoying either of them, it only takes 1.. and the sods are a night mare, and really upset young dragons, as they bite, and the dragons get stressed, and cant sleep.

Temps: bring them up to a basking spot of approx 110*..
they require this to digest, and all dragons are different, i have a big luci male who likes his @ 110, and i have another luci male who likes it at 95*... so have a play around.

Vets: still unsure, get it checked put, but check the above, and let us know how you get on.

for more info, i suggest you E.mail hades dragons, he knows his stuff with bearded dragons, and i put my hands up and say his one of the best in the hobby.

Hiya Tom
This is exactly what they have done ,they seem like they have shut down ,sleeping all the time within the space of just over a week , as mentioned i am force feeding them with a small syringe just to get some fluids and vitamins into them and they both had a poo yesterday , they both drink when i put them in their water bowls or drip water on their heads.
QUESTION : can i treat them for worms and parasites myself ?
i have changed over from crickets to small locusts after advice from Rob when i took the dragons to show him Sunday ,also got some wax worms which the small dragon eat 1 today , i have been liqudising all the salad and greens i have got with a small amount of apple baby food an filtered water adding vitamin and calcium suplements to the mixture ,
The temps are all good in the basking areas ranging from 100 to 110 as they all seem to like different temps as you say , but the 2 inactive ones still seem to just lay there with eyes either shut or half open ,not like the active 1 that is alert and jumps on any food i put in there straight away .

peppers.... yuk!!!!!!!..

dont give them these, or celery.. they have a rich content of something bad, i have forgotten what.. also most fruits are bad, mine dont get fruit at all.

i use, kale, water cress, baby lambs lettice, wild rocket, and parsley, tyme, and corriander, squash, and a small amount of carrot.

there the basic salads, and anything else really should be for a treat, or not given often, due to the contents of the food..

here is a perfect list..

Bearded Dragon Food Chart.
