It is a very poor quality foodstuff to feed and believe it or not the same information applies to human nutrition as well. Cabbage and spinach are the biggest offenders. They can and will lead to metabolic bone disease.

The very best possible veggies you can feed to your bugs and then in turn to your reptile are actually watercress and parsley. These have a high calcium to phosporus ratio with no oxalates.
As far as i know kale is as bad as cabbage, binds calcuim so is not absorbed.
so feed rarely.

I've heard that a fair bit as well, shame as the locusts seem to really like it.

I've usually tried to stick to things here, alot of the names are American names for veg but i thought if its ok for a Beardie it would be fine for gut loading locust for my monitors, has alot of links to studies on oxalate contents and such as well.

I just use weetabix for the feed and carrot, apple or spuds for thier water. Flaked fish food is ok, but its full of colourents.
