What Rob does not not take into account is the all too common occurence where the sex of a corn snake is wrongly given.
An inexperienced keeper cannot sex them himself and relies on the sex told to him by the seller. This is frequently wrong.
So the unwanted scenario of an immature pair breeding can easily occur.

I do take this into consideration when the time is right, I was simply answering the question of the OP who has a 2 year old male corn and wants another 2 year old male corn to go with his.

My answer is based on the fact at that age, someone that knows how to sex snakes will find them easy to sex. I am in no position to doubt the OP about the sex of his pet and neither am I in a position to doubt that of a shop. If there is any doubt as to the sexes, I would be more than happy to sex them.

My answer is based on 2 males living together. Should the OP had asked about getting a female for his male, I would have answered different.

I know where you are coming from and agree, in part. Rob answered the question as posted and i agree with his answers. Yes corns are easy to sex, yes you often get missexed snakes from shows and private sellers but I can not see a shop with a modacum of experiance sexing a corn incorrectly. But it does happen i agree. Rather than take the post of topic Im gonna stop there lol. Ohh and happy new year all.

Hey

Just from previous experience. Females have been known to each the other one if a big size difference.
Ours are about 3 years and extremely well handled. Would like to coment on youngsters together.
A male and female when sexed are better. We also have a 2 year old which is on her own. We put the male in to breed and we could easily tell the other female was missing him greatly. Looking for him the whold time. She was so happy when he was back.
At 3 years her first lot of eggs was 32 with only 2 unfertile. We didn't have an incubator at the time so sadly lost them.
We feed them together but stay with them at all times to make sure they stay away. Feed at same time so they don't go for the others. If in doubt feed seperately.
I am not an expert but have had corns together for a while. Best thing is to see how you go. You know your snakes better than anyone.
Most people on here seem against which is fine but wanted to give you the choice from my experience aswell. Thanks

Emma

I have two pairs of Corns 'living together' and a pair of Baird's Ratsnakes...never had a problem...in fact they are all "breeding" at the moment like there is no tomorrow! I feed all my snakes outside the viv in various size boxes and putting them back together after a feed is no problem...but I do leave it about an hour before putting them back together...to be on the safe side....
