Default Cant feed up boa to breed

I got 2 boa's recently, a male and a female they both have not fed for the past month and I need to get the weight on the female, she is of a good weight but I understand that once gravid she can stop feeding for some considerable amount of time.

Please could you advise me on how to get some food in her belly so I know it is going to be safe to breed her.

You could try to increase the size of her food prey. How old and what weight is your female?

When she takes the first item you could have a second ready then gently put it into her mouth as she finishes eating the first she will start on the 2nd. It worked a treat on my royal.

I was told when I purchased the snakes, that the male is about 3-4 years old and he is about 5' 9"? The female, ditto and she is about 6' 2" they said that they are both on large rats but still not fed as yet, should i try a rabbit??

Not to sure of the weight of her, not got scales at the min, she is not underweight but i do think she will need a bit more weight on her to cope with the fast through the breeding stage.

Right, there's a few things you could try first. Try heating the rats head in hot water before feeding (so the head is hot to touch) I have snakes that refuse to eat unless this is done. Failing that you could try braining the rat, which is basically cutting the rats head open so that the snake can smell the blood. Are the snakes housed together at the min? and what size viv/rub are they in? I wouldn't try the rabbit thing just yet, also as a general rule the prey size should not be larger than the fattest part of your snake. Right i know im banging on, but dont try to feed to often if they refuse, give it at least 3 days before trying again.

I do warm the rats up so they are v warm but doesn't seem to work, I have not tried braining the rats at all yet, might try that tonight if they dont take initially.
The snakes are not housed together and they are in seperat 4 x 3 x 3, that's just a temp thing tho as I am looking at getting bigger viv's for them, I have a thread on Ceramics and viv size, I have been on a 6 x 3 x 2 i think, would this suffice for the rest of the snakes lives? (seperate)
Also if I wanting to breed them can they be housed in the same room in different vivs or would they smell each other and would this affect the breeding?
