Hey there,

Avicularia species are normally pretty docile.. although quicker than most other New World spiders. Probably smaller, although dependant on the species.. I have a variety of Avics and some are pretty damn big :D

Please let me remind you, Tarantulas do not require or gain anything from handling. There is no need to do it, when handling you only risk potentially damaging or losing your spider if it ran off.. or end up getting yourself bitten.

If your fine with the possible concequences, then remember when handling to try and sit on the floor or on a bed or something anyways so if it jumped/fell it wouldn't hurt its self. Always make sure you have a tub spare to catch it if it decides to run off..

I dont have a Blondi atm, some handle and some will not.. Blondi hairs are pretty bad and I've heard of someone being so irritated by them they scratched until they bled..

Also remember, Avicularia(Pink Toe) Are an arboreal species.. they required high, lots of ventilation and higher humidity. If you need any other quests answered, feel free to pm me :)

Hedley1, avicularia are the pink toe tarantulas- there are many species, different colours/sizes, but all have the characteristic pink feet. they vary from 4''-6'' leg span. some have brilliant colours (peru purple pink toe- black with metallic purple sheen, giant amazon pink toe- bluish green with red abdomen, martinique pink toe- plum red with metallic green carapace- these are just a few examples). all are extremely hairy tree-dwellers ('arboreal'=tree dweller), most won't bite (there are few exceptions, & rarely available), & they have the unique ability to glide through the air, using their hairy legs like a parachute! easily kept, they do however need humidity, & a vertical branch or piece of bark to attach their tube-web.
