Tortoise Pellets
I have heard good and bad things regarding pellets.
Im thinking of trying them out ( soaking them first ) as my torts dont seem all that interested in weeds i have grown over ten types plus put them in the garden and they just dont really eat them.
whats peoples views on these pellets are they ok to temp till they gain weight back.
And yes I know they would not find pellets in the wild so dont anybody qoute me that lol.

hi mate,
if your torts don't seem to be eating its normally a sign of something is wrong,
could just be down to a simple setup change ie UV light is to far away from them
or the heat source to low.
most torts will eat anything you put in front of them even more so after a day or
two without eating.
give us an idea of your setup mate just to see if you can help them that way,
if all that seems fine then the vet is the best bet.

please don't use pelelts. They are designed for a range of torts, which means they are never species specific. In addition to this, they are highly addictive and once they start ezting them, you'll never get them off them again.
The pellets are very high in fibre and general rubbish used to compact it all into that nice circular shape. They are hard to digest and no where near as good as weeds and natural foods.
O.K., that rant over lol - didn't mean it to sound so negative,
has your tort eaten weeds before? your post reads as if it is the first time? They are incredibly stubborn animals and will go for a very long time without eating what's good for them and waiting for the usual lettuce etc (if that is what you've been feeding them of course lol)
However, unless they are genuienly ill, they will never let themselves starve. Think of it like a fat guy eating chocolate and being forced to eat salad instead.
That is assuming you've only just tried your tort on weeds anyway, if not then give it a bit longer and then think about a fecal test at the vets. How long have they not eaten for?

Aaron it seems like you've answered Justins questions with a positive outcome and everything seems ok with the set up which leaves me to echo what Justin and Fundo have said about a possible illness.
Fundo has given you some great advice and I would follow it to get the best result.
Rob.

I have owned them for 4 months and they have never been huge eaters maybe im just being paranoid. one of them has gained about 5grams in 2 months and one has lost about 6 - 7 grams in 2 months. i got told to aim for a weight gain of 2 - 3 grams per month : s
Ill see how they go over next few days they only seem to ever eat hawksbits??? and dandelion they wont touch nothing else.
cheers fundo your not full of sarcasm all the time after all lol.
and ta rob yea setup is pretty sound. and as substrate just got dirt lol.
